Gestalt

Raleigh North Carolina

This painting has been exhibited in multiple contexts dedicated to empowering women through creativity and dialogue. It was featured at Cummins during an International Women's Day event, where women working in a traditionally male dominated industry were invited to engage with and explore contemporary art as a space for reflection, expression, and connection.
The work was also exhibited on International Women's Day 2026 at Alliance Française de Raleigh, as part of a celebration highlighting women's voices, achievements, and cultural contributions. Through its exploration of identity, the body, and female experience, the painting contributed to conversations about representation, visibility, and the diverse realities of women across cultures.

In Gestalt, Kawtar Lourhraz offers an uncompromising look at the internal revolution of motherhood. Painted while the artist herself was navigating the physical and hormonal intensity of pregnancy, the work abandons literal form to capture the "feeling" of creation.
The canvas pulses with a visceral, red energy, utilizing heavy layers of paint to represent the weight and power of a body in bloom. There are no figures here, only the rhythm of life a chaotic, beautiful, and pulsing exploration of what it means to carry the future within oneself. It is a celebration of the body not as a subject, but as a powerful, living process.
